Work in Process/ WIP is a r+d space for creating products, services, material and records to explore design – through projects and musings of Cult Meraki. In sustaining the work of the lab, WIP evolves a brand focused on making well thought out projects for creative work and culture.
The success of design lies in the ability to fulfil what it was intended for. WIP incites commentary on: What inspires design? What makes it? How does design work? How does it affect people, society, and the environment? Is design effective in improving the experience it is directed at?
To proliferate a culture of design, solution-making and conscious aesthetics, WIP seeks to unravel and capture the iterative process of creation through matter on inspiration, concepts, objects, products, and tools – as it happens, behind and in front of the scene.
In making design a common tool for use in everyday life, work, and problem-solving, the lab synergizes strains of production, education, practice and enterprise into a cohesive and sustainable approach for processing, transferring and forming culture.
In enhancing the environments, spaces, and communities that devise our realities and cultures, the consciousness of design is pivotal. Schemes aim to make design more accessible, conversing on ideation and process – thinking, expression, problem solving, prototyping, and development. The behind-the-scenes approach elucidates on processing to nurture awareness on how sensitive logic, application and consequence can enhance lifestyle and environment; as designs sways on the physical, emotional and mental faculties of its consumers. WIP fuels a sustainable practice that pivots on local production to rouse thought into artistry, creativity and craftsmanship.
The labs range over activity, workshop, and exhibition evolving a flexible and immersive schedule – against boredom – testing possibilities for transforming space and experience with design. Through constraint into more nebulous spheres of possibility, WIP triggers a fulfilling process through products and modules originated to scale design into more democratic ranges for application.
The space is activated by artists, artisans, designers, film-makers, photographers, and students, intersecting a nebulous space for thrills and conversations on design as a tool for uplifting life.
